Hello everyone! Thank you so much for checking back today for our video tutorial series on taking better pictures of your kids. Unfortunately, I have a house-full of sick kids and need to postpone the video until tomorrow. In the meantime, here are a few tips to work on at home!

Get Closer – Details are worth remembering and can help make your photographs more interesting. Don’t be afraid to cut off part of the subject to get the shot.

Change the angle – If you are used to only taking pictures from the same angle, switch it up. Try taking some shots from your child’s perspective.

Get Some Action Shots – Have your child jump in the air or twirl around and see what you can capture.

Capture the mood – If your child is taking a time-out, grab the camera and snap a picture of that pout. One of my favorite pictures of my oldest is of her standing in the corner! It is just so darn cute!

Try some black and white – Most cameras give this option if you look for it in your menu options.

Set up a “window studio” – Position your kids so the light is going across their face at a 45 degree angle and see what you can get. In the afternoon, the light is much softer.

Be sneaky – Don’t let your kids know you are taking some pictures of them. There is something about a camera that makes kids act different.

Sorry again for no video! Check back tomorrow for some before and after fixes!

What is with the video pausing on THIS face? I don’t know how it decided where to freeze the video to show a preview. If anyone knows this information, please, I am begging you, tell me how! Anyway, this is the second video in the series How To Take Better Pictures of Your Kids. This episode talks about getting to know the dials on your camera, more specifically, the macro setting.

Because I don’t know the level our readers are at as far as their photography skills, I have started pretty basic. However, if you have a specific question you would like to ask, please leave it in the comment section. Please don’t be afraid! No, question is dumb and there is a pretty good chance that someone else will have the same question!
