I love to refinish furniture, a lot!  I love to build things and look at them and say, “I built that!”  If you are like me, you will really appreciate this blog.  Ana White, the writer of the blog, creates AMAZING plans for furniture and then, she gives them away…for FREE!  Fur’real!  She is so talented it makes me want to cry.  I only have one warning, viewing this site may make you want to build all the furniture in your home.

Here is where I should insert the pictures of the adorable four-poster toddler beds I made, but Jaycie redecorated them with crayon, so after I repaint them I will post some pictures.  However, I will share some pictures of the furniture that I refinished.

Before pictures would be nice, but I have so many pictures on my computer, I couldn’t find them. If I do, I will add them.  There is more that I have done. A LOT more! Nate is ready to get his garage back for the winter so my projects are done for now, but next spring….watch out!

One more thing.  Do you see this house?

Yeah, we tore it down.  (Nate was super excited about this idea. Insert your own sarcastic voice)  I have big plans for all of that lovely wood!  I can’t wait to share it with all of you. But it is September in Idaho, and that means it is cold now. Oh well, there is always next year or shop heaters.

The best place to start is with a color pallet.  Don’t think you have to all be wearing blue or whatever color.  Coordinating colors are the most pleasing for photography.  Don’t be afraid of patterns either.

I have put together some color pallets that work well for this time of year:

Once you have selected your color pallet it is time to go to your closet and coordinate your families clothes.  You do not need to go and buy matching t-shirts that no one looks good in, just so everyone matches.  Really, don’t do that.  Look instead at your favorite outfits that you like the best and coordinate using those.

One of the best ways to make an outfit look pulled together is to add layers.  You can add layers using cardigans, jackets, necklaces, vests, or scarfs. Another thing to remember is it doesn’t matter if your jeans are all the same wash.

DO NOT wear clothes that are too tight or restricting.  This will just reduce the number of photographs that you end up with, and you probably won’t like the way you look in them anyway.  This is another reason that a cardigan is a great idea for hiding anything you don’t want showing.  Also, check your kids and husband’s socks.  They show and they should blend, not stick out like a sore thumb.

The number one most important thing to remember is that YOU need to be comfortable.

Another important thing to remember is your husband.  Make sure that the clothes you pick for him are things he would actually wear.  You want to show your personalities, not just your faces.  Nate would be so irritated if I tried to put him in Argyle.  Even though I think he would look really hot, he does not agree. In return he does not pick all of my tiniest t-shirts for me to wear and show off my assets.

We have two Senior Packages to choose from:

Yellow Session – This package includes pre-portrait consultation to plan out exactly what you want from your session (either over-the-phone or in person), a packed 1.5 hours of shooting on location or in studio, editing and professional processing of your images, which includes skin retouching.  After your session you will have an in studio ordering appointment to Oooh and Aaah over your images and select the portraits to display in your home.

We only schedule five Yellow Sessions per week and our calendar fills up quickly.  Please call as soon as possible to ensure your spot.

Booking Fee: $225 (Book before August 31^st for 50% off)

Gray Session – This session is a fast paced 30-minute session in and around one of our top three locations.  It includes editing and professional processing of ten images, as well as an in studio ordering appointment to select portraits for your home.

These sessions are very limited to two specific dates each month.  Please call as soon as possible to be added to our Yellow shooting schedule.
