In this digital age, we have become used to instant gratification. These days, someone can take pictures with their point and shoot and have them on Facebook, and tagged, in less than an hour. However, we are not picture takers, we are photographers. So, our process for producing images is very different than it would be for the average camera owner.

After a session, we open each image to color correct them for proofing. This means, making sure that the lighting for the image is the exposure that we intended it to be, cropping the image to the desired composition, and choosing the best image from multiple, similar images. But you need to keep in mind that proofs are just that, proofs. They are not how the finished print will look, they are merely a representation of the print.
After you have selected images for print, I give your images ‘some style’. This means: removing blemishes, optimizing the colors in the image and cropping to the print size.
Note: We do NOT give every image ‘some style’. We only fully edit images that you are going to have printed. If we were to fully edit every image from a wedding, for example, it would take roughly 200+ hours. I do not want to spend that much time in front of my computer and I am sure that you would not want to pay me to sit in front of my computer for that long. Also, it would not be fair to our other clients to spend that much time on a single client.
When you purchase a disk of your images, you are only purchasing the proofs. We do include the fully edited digital copies of the images that you have already printed at an 8X10 or larger.
If you would like extra enhancements done to your images, such as braces removed, there is an hourly charge of $150. Depending on the extent of the editing, we can typically edit 2-3 images per hour.
If you still have questions about the difference between proofs and prints, please give us a call.
